ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION OF PIECE

DNA: Deoxyribonucleic Acid-A nucleic acid of complex molecular structure forming a principal constituent of the genes and known to play an important role in the genetic action of the chromosomes.

Prophecy: A prediction made under divine influence and direction; loosely, any prediction. Discourse delivered by a prophet under divine inspiration: the common Biblical sense. A book of prophecies. Public interpretation of Scripture; preaching.

Constantly reminding myself of where I came from and why I came to being is the core of DNA Prophecy. To me this aspect of my interpretations are key, given the fact that I am adopted. Every human living on this planet has a core to their existence and for me it is defined as my personal strand of DNA. My gender, being created as a male, brings to the conclusion that my DNA is strongest within an organism called sperm. The strongest DNA of a female would be within the egg. DNA Prophecy is the enigmatic pen and ink drawing that defines my biographical relationship between the sperm and the egg.

Sperm: The male fertilizing fluid: A male reproductive cell. The shape of sperm is very specific. It’s designed to be extremely efficient to allow easy movement through its long journey to the female egg. The image I created in DNA Prophecy to describe the sperm is not only drawn in this specific shape, but I also added a field of protection.	Oxford Scientific Films ©
	The image to the left consists of 23 spheres that are changing in size and alternating in colors of Silver and Gold. Multiple rings of a protecting grid also surround these spheres. The total number of spheres has a direct connection to my current biography, which consists of 23 Chapters. I also located a link to describe the alternating colors of gold and silver in a Biblical scripture in Proverbs 3:14. It reads: “For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.” This scripture is definitive because the 23 spheres are the representation of a sperm cell (DNA). The Merchandise. What an extremely powerful statement for the building block of my life. Merchandise: Anything movable customarily bought and sold for profit. Mercantile dealings; commerce; trade: hence, gain or advantage. To barter; trade; buy and sell. My existence relates directly to this analogy and scripture given the facts surrounding my adoption in 1968 after 2 weeks of life. I wasn’t necessarily bought by the state, but donated due to my circumstances. What I am sure of though is that my birth mother paid a heavy price for giving me up to the state, yet it had nothing to do with money. Sold for a profit refers to the fact that my adoptive parents wrote a check for $$$ to take me into their arms for the rest of my life.
The bartering reference is related to just me being. All those newborn entities surrounding me in that room and any one of us could be chosen next. Was my smile glowing at the right time? Did I coo at the perfect moment? Were my blue eyes so captivating and revealing that I created my destiny before all the others in the same room? According to my adoptive parents I was a sure thing at first sight. By default I bartered better than the rest. To all those I left behind I apologize for stealing the next prized visiting family. Then again… 22 of the 23 spheres forming the Sperm Cell are represented as a skeletal sequence meaning without the “skin” that is normally seen. On the following page I arranged the spheres in a curved pattern in order to show the actual skeletal form of the sperm DNA as if it were moving.


There is a grand significance of using these Halo Rings in DNA Prophecy. The rings are first defined in the last 3 Chapters of my current biography, which was completed in 2003. Image examples are listed below.

There are a few more definitive images in this piece that relate to the significance of using the rings in this manner. Here is the image that contains the protective grid pattern and the larger and smaller Suns.
	Notice that the grid pattern is separated into a total of 16 sections. Now there is a familiar number. It is the total number of Links that are used to connect the Spheres. Link: One of the loops of which a chain is made; A single constituent part of a continuous series; A connecting rod which transmits power from one part of a machine to another.
I created the links of the grid in a surrounding and protecting format. This was designed to developed the relationship between the power of the DNA strand or sperm and the containment and protection it needed from any outside influence that could cause the slightest bit of damage. The top of the grids sections at the sperm tail is small and separated. Then as the organism moves closer to its destination and the spheres get larger, so do the grid sections. Each section becomes larger than the previous and they are not separated any more. They are connected and driving this strand of DNA closer and closer and closer until:
ORGASM!	Orgasm: Immoderate or extreme excitement or behavior. I displayed an orgasm in this image as an explosion. The explosive design I used is detailed in the image to the left. Using the spikes and the portrayal of a ‘bang’ gives the image a defined energy that relates to the involvement of the transfer of DNA in this manner. The image below is an artist’s definition of an orgasm that I found on the Internet. DNA Prophecy was completed in 2005 and I found this descriptive imagery in 2008. Another example of the links I share with others when describing the same subject matter. Our explosions are strikingly similar utilizing the colors purple and yellow.
ã 2004-2008 ~ phatsupra	After the orgasm begins to detumescent the initial transfer of the DNA from the male to the female is completed. The sperm is now on its journey to form it’s bonding relationship with the egg. To illustrate the details of this transfer I designed the partial image of the Head of the sperm to describe the definition. Below is the image of the Head of the sperm moving into a representation of the vaginal canal.

	By following the forward path of the DNA, it continues to move downward in the drawing. In this detail image on the left I inserted a single halo or ring. This is to define the Ring of Marriage. Marriage is defined in the Bible as a necessary component of the conception of a child. Through this ring of marriage you can notice that the checkerboard pattern takes on a transformation. The canal pattern is all the same, but the pattern changes after it passes through the ring.
Fallopian Tube Fallopian Tube
To show the further travels of the DNA strand, I adjusted the angles of the line pattern on the bottom portion after the ring to form 2 distinct tunnels or tubes. These tubes are defined as the fallopian. The fallopian tubes carry the egg from the ovaries on a journey to meet the sperm. For this depiction the sperm and the egg would meet at the ring of marriage, thus completing the cycle of a DNA Prophecy. (back to top)
