ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION OF PIECE
1999

This original is basically exactly as the title describes. After completing "Christian Creation" and realizing my potential relationship with Christ I decided that I was not at all interested in changing my life to that of a Godly way. I liked me. I liked my friends of little influence. I liked how the ‘medical marijuana’ healed my pain or at least placed it into a holding cell for a little while. I liked to pretend at Church and become this “Oh Ronnie, you are such a blessing” for at least an hour or so on Sundays. Besides, I had asked one of his angels known as "Destiny" to marry me and was shot down….OUCH!

Am I on an “I Hate God trip?” Not exactly, but I was definitely not in the mood to listen to any advise he may have for me…yeah right. So I tried to drift myself from a path toward Christ. At least I was listening enough so that the energy I gathered from "Christian Creation" would still cause the ink to flow. Gods grace is always.

I needed a break from all the ‘mess’ that I believed was caused by my coming to Christ. ‘Drift’ is the break that I gave myself to try and figure things out. This image contains the main definitions that I have been working with, both worldly and spiritually. The checkerboard pattern is very much a part of my work now. The sphere is all over the place. In this work I have 9 planets within the Heavens. There are 9 planets in our Solar system. Well, at least there where at the time I was drawing this original. This link to the planets defined my extended connection to the world. I included the shining stars yet none of them are of any significance.

The only linking representation that I can figure from this piece originates from the center images. In previous works this Center image was always the pathway into the creative process of the current work as well as driving the ideas and thoughts into the next original. This is the Mean at work in "Drift". Take the current, look into the past, and apply it to a better future. Well, in this image since I was drifting I’m not sure that the next chapter was better, but it is for sure an extreme definition into the negative path I’m falling.

This center image displayed on the left has direct links to the previous Chapter #7 "Christian Creation". So knowing that these direct links exist and they are very common between the 2 originals, this is where I should begin my definitions for this new work.

If I’m drifting then my Source link to Mean as well as God is not moving forward. This is why the links are so in touch with the previous Chapter. I’m doing my best to stay where I am and not move at all in the Spirit or in my artwork. Well, if I’m not moving into the Spirit of God then who would it be that has free reign to steal and expand whatever worldly thought I’m concentrating on? He’s definitely here and just waiting for me to call to him and walk in his evil ways again.

The image of the flaming sun was very significant in Chapter #7. The flames in the previous piece were all black relating to evil. The flames in this piece are both black and white. The major difference is that the white flames of purity are expanding towards the Heavens. The black flames are reaching upwards towards earthly mountain shapes. They’re also reaching towards the ‘step’ pattern I used in the previous chapter as seen in the image to the right.
