Afghaniphobia Trilogy #3
Psalms 91:5
“Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day.”
(see description of Afghaniphobia)
ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION OF PIECE
Detailed Definition of Chapter #22
Psalms 120:7
“I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.”
This hand drawn pen and ink image is the 3rd description in a Trilogy titled “Afghaniphobia” which I created in remembrance to the events of 9/11/01. The first two images are “WHY”, the New York incidents and “Born Again” which details Shanksville, PA.
The centerpiece of "Sense the Savior" is the damaged Pentagon as well as the ultimate goal of what humanity, emboldened by democracy, strives for… Peace. This is represented using the classic symbol in the center of this military domain.

|
|
The 2 swords serve as multiple representations. The swords cross one another in the center of the piece. This forms an X, which is also the Roman numeral for 10. There were 10 years between the Gulf War in 1991 and the attacks of September 2001. Both these dates are within this piece and will be defined in later paragraphs.
The Sword dates back centuries which in this piece relates to the history of the Crusades. The Christians and the Muslims have fought each other since before the time of Christ and the sword was widely used. It is the classic weapon used by Islamic Militants to behead ‘infidels’. It is the focal point of the entrance to Baghdad. The U.S. Marine officers formal uniform includes the sword. The sword in ancient wars was the weapon of choice. It’s a weapon of honor, nobility and prestige. Even the Bible itself is described as a Sword. The word of GOD is penetrating and deep.
|
In relation to this image, the sword on the left is taken from details contained in a Mameluke military sword used by the United States Marine Corp.
It is marked USA. |
The details in the sword on the right are from an early 18th century Russian Imperial officer’s sword. This is detailed in the handle seen here. |
|
I made the edges of each sword a little different. The Marine sword edges are sharper and more defined. The Russian sword edges are more rugged and not so straight. This detail is more visible in the original drawing. The sharper and straighter edge’s of the Mameluke defines the preciseness of a Marine and how our soldiers fight. The ruggedness of the Russian sword defines the tactics of the Taliban being somewhat unorganized and not so attentive to details.
|
The Mameluke is penetrating the Russian sword in the figure to the left.
I placed this in the image to signify the relationship between the Taliban, Russia, and the U.S. We gave weapons to the Taliban during the Cold War to help them fight the Russians when they invaded Afghanistan. Now we are fighting Russian weapons as well as some of our own weapons from the original conflict. |
You will also notice the same images contained in the handles of both swords. There are spherical jewels as part of both swords. Here on the Russian sword
|
|
and here in 2 locations on the Mameluke handle.
This represents the fact that weapons we gave to the Afghans in the 1980’s were the same weapons used against us in this conflict against the Taliban. The cross in the Russian sword defines the Afghans quest for Holy war. Also hanging from the Russian sword are 2 other clues that reference Russia and the Taliban.
Russian Insignia

Taliban Insignia
|
|
The symbols you see here are the Russian insignia during the reign of the Soviet Union and also the Taliban insignia that was printed on the Taliban Flag during it’s reign over Afghanistan. They are attached to the sword with the type of chain that is used to hold ‘Dog Tags’ which are standard for all military servicemen to wear at all times. |
 |
There are 3 personalities portrayed in this image, the Bush administration, Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. The clues to the Bush description are first highlighted using the Pentagon. Commander in Chief is the head of the Pentagon Military Facility and only a U.S. President can hold that appointment. More links will be described in later paragraphs. |
"Sense the Savior" was actually completed over a year before we invaded Iraq. Realizing and studying the details of why I was there in 1991 during Desert Storm I had a feeling that Saddam would enter the picture shortly so I added his image in that regard. Osama is a given being the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Also represented is the Man-to-Man relationship. The 2 gentlemen are facing each other, eye to eye, to symbolize the fact that they share a lot of the same views and ideas related to Islam and the Muslim faith according the scriptures of Mohammed and the Koran.
This man-to-man relationship would also include our current president George W. Bush and also his Ex-President father George Bush Sr. This is defined because both ‘Bush’ administrations share so much of the same issues involving the same people related to terrorism. It’s also significant to me because of Saddam Hussein’s attempt to take the life of Bush Sr. This is why I believed that our invasion of Iraq would soon follow the Afghanistan conflict.
|
This is Chapter #22 in my biography, which is noted near the center of the piece inside the ring of the Peace symbol. I have a personal relationship to this entire piece given that I served in the US Air Force from 1989-1993 and was stationed in Saudi Arabia during Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Desert Calm. |
Underneath the Chapter reference is the classified location where I was stationed in 1991. It is located inside the inner ring of the Pentagon to define the fact that it was the Pentagons decision to ship us overseas to fight Saddam’s Republican Guard that had invaded Kuwait.
Also concerning the Pentagon is the image of where the plane actually penetrated the building as seen below.

|
 |
I defined this aspect by the cracks around the opening caused by the plane and explosion. Coming out from the opening is the Serpent, which I also used in the other 2 works within this Trilogy. In relation to the previous image “Born Again” the Serpent was used to transport the souls of the deceased. I described this detail here by having the Serpent exit the opening where the attack had started. |
 |
It then winds around multiple times towards the 2 gentlemen that are at the heart of this conflict. I added a slight detail to show the fact that these lost lives are most likely angry with the men portrayed in this image. If you notice the tongue of each Serpent first goes behind Osama and Saddam and then comes around to the neck, thus defining the possible idea of strangulation.
This strangulation description was a prediction that defined itself by the type of death given to Saddam. |
 |
The rings that are surrounding every area of each Serpent are better defined in “Born Again” but are used here to represent the angelic symbol of a ring or Halo, which is a definition of protection and peace.
There are 5 flaming spherical images with a checkerboard pattern in their center as seen here.
|
Each of these 5 images has a specific scripture written inside the circle along the outer edge. Each passage is written so that it relates to the center of the piece. (If a line was drawn from the bottom of each passage they would all intersect at the center)
Each passage is also marked KJV to signify the importance of the version used for my translations. The title of this piece "Sense the Savior" is referenced in each verse by containing each of the 5 senses of the human being. They are sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Italics are used in the scriptures below to highlight the key words. I also added some definitions to how each passage relates to this piece. |
Jeremiah 7:15
“And I shall cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.”
To me this reference relates to the possible thoughts of Saddam and Osama towards America and George Bush and vice versa. They’ve each tried to cast the other out of sight and ignore the traditions and customs that have made each nation what it is today.
1 Corinthians 15:52
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Everything seemed to happen so fast and life was gone on 9/11. Also the Trumpet sounding as an army would advance to attack its enemy. The dead shall be raised incorruptible and I guarantee that we are all changed.
Leviticus 26:31
“And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.”
This passage is pretty much self explained. Osama did it to us, then we did it to him and then Saddam.
Job 6:30
“Is there iniquity in my tongue? Cannot my taste discern perverse things?”
This may be best described by the NIV version:
“Do you think I am lying? Don’t I know the difference between right and wrong?” Sounds like everyone involved in this conflict has issues with lying and right and wrong. I’m not sure if I know the difference in relation to this conflict.
(Note: You can see why I note in all my works to use the King James Version of the Bible for my interpretations. Otherwise the scriptures would not link as true since the wording is so different to describe the same verse.)
Hebrews 12:20
“For they could not endure that which was commanded, and if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart;”
This defines the fear of GOD as described to Moses. Fear.
Five Scriptures, Five Senses, Five definitions relating to those leader decisions made in the months prior and the months following the events of 9.11.2001
In every piece of this Afghaniphobia Trilogy I made references to the victims that perished in the attacks. In “WHY” the stars relate to the average citizen because the Twin Towers were business buildings. In “Born Again” I used the cross. I utilized the star in "Sense the Savior" as I did in “WHY” because these 2 pieces relate the most to one another.
Most of the victims in this attack were Military personnel because the Pentagon is a Military facility. I defined the memory of the soldiers using the many U.S. Military insignias, which are located at the top of certain shining stars. Some examples are below:
|
|
|
|
|
|
US Marines |
Colonel |
U.S. Army |
U.S. Navy |
Captain |
U.S. Air Force |
If you compare all the stars between “WHY” and "Sense the Savior" you will see lots of similarities as well as a key difference. All the stars are relatively the same size. All the stars are the same pattern using a black star within a white star. All the stars have 4 points. The difference is with these 4 points. The stars in “WHY” have the same design for every point. This signifies that most of the victims were civilians. Also in “WHY” there are a few stars that have the same 4 designs at each point. This links the cases in which multiple family members perished in that single collapse.
In "Sense the Savior" only 3 of the 4 points are the same design. The difference is the top point, which is the Military insignia. This defines the separation/relationship of civilian and military that was shared with most of the victims in the Pentagon.
There is also a hidden defining star within "Sense the Savior" that remembers the civilians that also perished in the Pentagon. It is pictured below:
|
If you look at every star in "Sense the Savior" you will notice that the top point has a military insignia, except for the star picture here. Notice the top point design (Arrow) that is hidden behind the planet. It is the same as the other 2 points visible and one would have to assume that the bottom point is also the same. This image is placed behind the planet and barely visible to indicate that these civilian victims at the Pentagon were not as recognized or kind of placed in the background, given that this is a military facility. |
I also placed a unique star in the bottom right corner of this piece:
 |
Each detail in this star representation is related to me personally which is why this particular star is located directly behind my name. The insignia at the top of this star has 3 stripes, which is the rank of Senior Airman. It is colored Blue to identify the U.S. Air Force. The rank of Senior Airman has since been eliminated and now represents the rank of Sergeant, which also has 3 stripes. During Desert Storm my rank was Senior Airman and then I received my promotion to Sergeant during my inactive reserve status after I was honorably discharged in 1993. |
The points on this star, which are the shapes of vines with thorns, are directly related to Chapter #18 titled “Boston”. This is identified by placing a planet directly behind the center of the star in "Sense the Savior" and behind the center of a cross in “Boston” thus defining the relationship shared by both images.
This planet representation in "Sense the Savior" is set apart from the rest of the planets given that it is the only planet that is behind a star. Every piece in this line of Gateways that has the Heavens demonstrates the same relationship of stars and planets by having the stars behind the planets, just as it is in reality. Placing a star in front of a planet emboldens that entity as a star that is significance. Below are the examples from "Sense the Savior" and “Boston” to show the connection.
| The planet behind the star |
|
The planet behind the Cross
KJV at the top of the Cross |

Sense the Savior |
|

Boston
|
There are 3 stripes on the top of the star in “Sense the Savior”. There are 3 letters at the top of the cross in “Boston” in reference to the King James Version of the Bible. There are 3 letters in my name, RON thus linking each aspect of the images. The number 3 is also the principle numeral of the Fibonacci numbering system.
The final definition to this work is the combination of all the flags around the boarder of the entire image. This signifies that all the flags bring the individual images of the work together into one final definition. Each flag represents a nation of the world. If you were to take the first letter of each nation that the flag used in this boarder represents, place them in order of how they are positioned in this piece you will end up with an 88 letter poem that describes the entire work as a whole.
|
If you look at the lower left corner of the work you will see a small dot.
This is a period, which comes at the end of a sentence. So if this period is at the end of a sentence then the next sentence should begin after the period. This is the clue to start with the next flag to begin the interpretation which would be Finland, then Oman, then Romania….etc.
I will leave the final puzzle for you to figure out yourself.
This Trilogy was a life changing moment in all our lives. I appreciate your time in reviewing my definitions and I hope my thoughts inspire your heart.
