This image comprises of over 100 circles yet the immediate image that I see is an Orb. A sphere topped with a cross. This direct connection to the Orb is interesting because in the original definition of “Circles Under Christ” I never mention a link to an Orb. That is due to the fact that I had not become familiar with the definition of an Orb until four or five years later. What this piece did is feed my mind the significance of the spherical shape as a seemingly non-beginning/non-ending line-work. The spheres importance is defined because the shape is used in every piece that I have ever created.

I really have no idea of how many spheres I used to create “Spherical Connection”. What I concentrated on was the detail of overlapping many individual circles to give most of them the definition of a connection.

By using this same method of overlapping the spheres I created this geometric form in the center of the drawing. Instead of filling in every separate section with black I decided to use some color.

At this time I had been bonding with the use of the colors red and yellow. For some reason the dynamics of this combination inspired me tremendously.

The next few detail images are from previous works that connected my thoughts to this red and yellow experience.

After completing Spherical Connection I was still inspired to use these colors for 2008. I created a couple of clock drawings that only utilize these two colors. “Line Study 2” and “Line Study 3” are practice pieces that I used to really get myself in touch with the red and yellow relationship. Detail images from these drawings are below.

There are still even more connections to the MEAN line. If the Fibonacci sequence is followed as stated on the previous page the line reads -2 -1 -1 0 1 1 2. This is how the numerals are arranged that indicate the spheres and half spheres within this detail image. From the White half sphere starting on the left the equation reads 1 + 2 + 3 = 6. From the Black full sphere starting on the right the equation reads the same 1 + 2 + 3 = 6, but this sequence moves along the negative MEAN line to coincide with the rules of the Fibonacci. The final equation total for each sequence reads 6 + 6 = 12.

Now also observe the groupings of numerals including the white half sphere and the black full sphere. 1+3= 4 and 2 + 2 = 4 and 3 + 1 = 4. This final equation reads 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 as well. To complete the link you need to count the small dots in the center of the two outside yellow rectangles. There are a total of 12.

There is such a powerful relationship between these two chapters and the gateway image I used in “Spherical Connection.” The image on the left contains the six stars separated in 3 sections of the gateway. The black stars are above and below and the six white stars are within the cross.

The image below contains the birds within the sun representation. There are two sets of birds and the sets are black and white. You can also see the similarities in the flames between these 2 images. The difference is that the chapter 7 has all black flames and chapter 8 has both black and white. These two drawings are the beginning works of my struggle with understanding my personal MEAN.

There is only one element that could bring me out of this spiraling abyss at these moments in my life and that would be the effects of time. The more time I spent trying to run from His grace the more time I spent in failure.

Time: The general idea, relation, or fact of continuous or successive existence; infinite duration or its measure. The portion of duration allotted to some specific purpose.

Luckily I had time on my side and because of that I chose the correct path. Also in dealing with time I came up with the idea of actually implementing this aspect of life into my original drawings.
