ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION OF PIECE
I’ll just start the description of this chapter with the image of the most powerful link to my entire existence as an artist.

I defined the visual power of the checkerboard or block pattern in my descriptions of the previous Chapter #2. I followed those thoughts and implemented the main points taken from GODs Innervention and drew a response to those thoughts in Chapter #3 titled "The Response".
There are, of course, 3 main points taken from Chapter #2 and referenced in this 3rd piece. Earth, the Checkerboard, and the Heavens.
Representations of the Earth focus my thoughts on a direct relation to my soul, Man. Man was created from the Earth. Then Woman was created from the Man. "GODs Innervention" began with 3 elements. Earth, Wind and Fire. Since wind and Fire are a part of the Earth itself I continued to just focus on Earth. The most defining relation is that the Earth is a sphere.

I have 4 planets in this piece. There are 4 spheres in the previous Chapter. The planets are relating to my focus on the Earth. Although there are 6 spheres total in this piece, the planets create the link to Mean by matching the total number of spheres in the previous chapter. Defining Mean is to visualize what is now, pull something specific from the immediate past, and the resulting link is realized in the future definition. (2,3,5,8..etc.)
Below is an example of one of the other 2 spherical images within this piece.

My curving lines shown in these 2 spheres are more accurate in relation to each line. They don’t intersect. I utilized a more fine tuned pattern process compared to the curving lines I used for the checkerboard spheres in "GODs Innervention". This represents my implementation of the mathematical ratios within Mean. The line work is now not so sporadic and unpredictable. |
Within these spheres I also transferred my connection with the line ‘depth’ that I was so excited about in the previous chapter. Comparison examples from both chapters are below.

Because I was so interested in this black and white checkerboard pattern I actually experimented by using 7 different types of this pattern in this piece. I define ‘different types’ by size, angle, and composition. Below are examples of each type of checkerboard pattern.

The visual integrity of this block pattern was driving me forward. From a distance the line work seemed to move on it’s own. As you will notice in the above examples most of the block patterns are relatively the same…except for one.

This is the first time I used the block pattern without the boxes filled in to represent black and white. The pattern is neutral and every box is relative. The significance of this type of checkerboard pattern is defined by implementing it in the central image of this piece. Using the example below, what’s the first image you see when quickly glancing at the entire drawing?

When others view this work they tell me they immediately see the Cross. The checkerboard pattern actually pulls them to the center image to reveal the heart of this original.
 |
The neutral checker pattern defines the elements of the Cross. God sees no difference in the souls of his creation when it comes to his love. This neutral pattern is also moving towards the Heavens and eternity. The cross is extremely white due to the ink work filled in around it. Purity is its definition. Slowly I am beginning to transform and purify my worldly views to those of teachings of Christ. This cross is the resulting cornerstone detailing the adapting direction of my minds thoughts throughout the creation of "GODs Innervention". It’s my way of saying, “I’m listening.” |
Since this central image has defined the purpose and direction of this piece, within the cross I noted the links to Mean.

On the left side there are 5 black and 5 white steps or blocks. These steps are a direct relation to Chapter #5. This cross is a symbol of Purity and the 5 steps are moving downward into purity and could also be seen as moving upward and out of purity.
This in and out of goodness is what I was going through at this time of my life. I was having so much difficulty defining the essence of my own reality and it’s links to my spirituality.
Now in relation to this cross the checkerboard pattern I used is neutral so instead of 5 black and 5 white steps I would focus on the total steps of 10 being as they are not defined by black or white. This link to 10 will be defined in a future paragraph.
On the right side of this Cross arm there are 7 spheres encircled by a specific number of black dots. Within these 7 spheres there is the same drawn image, which links each sphere together as being similar. The only difference in the spheres is the size and the amount of dots surrounding.
Having 7 spheres relates to the 7 different types of checkerboard I used in this piece. Each checkerboard has the same basic structure but different in size and whether each separate box was filled with black or left white.
The dots on the outside of each sphere are the most compelling link to Mean within this piece. Here is a breakdown counting the number of dots surrounding each sphere.
The pattern is defined by single numbers and paired numbers. The only unpaired number is 9. I’ll now break it down further into separate digits but still utilizing the paired definition.
7 7 8 8 9 1 0 1 0
There are now 4 digits on each side of the single digit. If we cancel out the paired groups of the 4 digits all that is left is the number 9, which is also centered between all the digits.
These images of the steps and the spheres within the cross have now been broken down to the digits 9 and 10. There is only one other original drawing in which I utilized a White Cross containing a sphere and that is Chapter #18 titled "BOSTON". "BOSTON" directly and significantly describes and relates to the number 9 as well as the number 10. "BOSTON" is also the deepest and most thought out interpretation of my links to Mean, my Source and the difficulties in my life before I was living in Christ.
The total of these 2 numbers is 19. A link is defined with “The Response” to Chapter #19 titled “Flowering Optimism” because chapter #19 is my response to Chapter #18 titled "BOSTON".
This original "The Response" was so powerful that it predicted the context of a couple of Chapters that would be drawn and written 3 years into the future. 3! Having this great significance is what placed my heart on the right track and a straighter path. The straight path is now defined by my shining stars being upright, compared to the slightly tilted stars in "GODs Innervention".

I hope and pray to never be tilted again.
